20km Records Smashed
Fantastic conditions and fast swimming resulted in new race records being set in all 20km race categories. Max Coten set the race alight, finishing first across the line in a record 3:57:32 in the 20km Solo event. This is Max’s third win in a row in a time that should remain a record for many years. Local team ‘White Belly Sea Eagles’ set a 20km Duo record, as did the young Darwin team ‘Bananas in Pyjamas’ in the 20km Quad. The 2024 event saw a record number of swimmers enjoy a current assisted swim, thanks to the high volume of water still spilling from a very full Lake Argyle. The event was capped off with an excellent meal and entertainment at the Gala Presentation Dinner, where over 700 guests partied under the Kimberley stars. Organisers are extremely grateful to the fantastic sponsors and amazing volunteers who made the event possible. All swimmers were extremely grateful for the support of their skippers and paddlers provided throughout the day. Planning is already underway for 2025, with registrations opening later this year on 1st November.
